Powered by the Sun
Our goal when signing up for the Race to Alaska was to keep it as simple as possible. But being the slightly spoiled sailors that we are, we couldn’t pass up the small cabin of the Santana 20 and quickly kiboshed the idea of going without what some may call essentials, we call luxuries! A VHF and navigation! Although our navigation system is simple (our phones) and our communication devices are somewhat limited (inreach and VHF), we are pleased to be able to keep them charged by LightLeaf’s SeaLeaf 110W panel!
Now, I know what you’re thinking, you’re relying on the sun in the Pacific NorthWest? Foolish, I know. Even in the middle of summer, we expect to be in cloud cover and drizzle for the majority of the race. But lucky for us, June brings 14 hours of “sunlight” in a day. Not to mention, our SeaLeaf panel’s strong clamps allow us to change the angle of the panel on the railing, offering us the ability to find the best angle.
If you’d like to learn more about the SeaLeaf panel or any of Lightleaf’s panels you can find them here.
